Blackburn Rovers are yet to hear from Chelsea about their plans for Franco di Santo.
With Chelsea's transfer ban now frozen, Rovers had hoped to extend the Argentine's loan to the end of this season. But everything will depend on whether Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti chooses to buy a replacement striker for Didier Drogba, who will be missing in the New Year for the African Nations Cup.
The Lancashire Telegraph says as things stand, Chelsea loanee Di Santo is expected to return to Stamford Bridge on January 1.
