Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy admits he was Manchester United-mad as a kid growing up in South Africa.

"In my opinion, they are the best team in the world," he told Setanta Sports.

"They are extremely good and not just from a Blackburn player's point of view but as a football fan as a whole.

"Man United has always been my team since I grew up and I follow them till today. I'm playing for Blackburn and, when I play against them, my goal is always to do my utmost to try and beat them but they are the team that I supported as a kid.

"I think at the moment they are unstoppable and they are getting better and better and stronger and stronger so it's going to be hard."
