Blackburn new hope keeping Chelsea's Di Santo

Blackburn Rovers have new hope of keeping hold of on-loan Chelsea striker Franco di Santo.

With Chelsea's transfer ban now suspended, the need to recall the young Argentine from Ewood Park isn't so acute.

Di Santo is initially on loan at Ewood Park until January but Rovers have already informed Chelsea they would be keen on extending his stay until the end of the campaign.

Rovers chairman John Willams told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Nothing has changed in terms of time scale.

"At the moment he is on loan until January 1. Nearer to that time negotiations will happen.

"Chelsea know we would be keen on extending his stay and of course the thing that would have made that more difficult seems as though it has been taken away."
