Blackburn, Middlesbrough battle for Crewe keeper Fon Williams

The race is hotting up for Welsh shot-stopper Owain Fon Williams, skysports.com understands.

Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Derby, Swansea and Cardiff are all said to be weighing up a move for the Under 21 international.

Fon Williams is out-of-contract at Crewe and he is set to leave Gresty Road after rejecting a new deal.

The 21-year-old has never actually featured in a league match for Alexandra and now he looks set to leave without making an appearance.

Crewe wanted him to stay and become their number one next season, with current incumbent Ben Williams also set to leave - but both are now on their way.

As he is under 24, Crewe will be due some compensation for the youngster.
