Blackburn Rovers face competition to sign permanently Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones.
Rovers boss Steve Kean has made it clear he wants to sign the USA international outright after his successful six-month loan at Ewood Park last season.
However, AS Roma have made their interest known to Jones' camp.
Roma chief Walter Sabatini has already scheduled a first meeting with the player's agent, Adam Davis, to discuss a move to Italy for the Schalke ace.
