Blackburn chairman Williams full of praise for Allardyce

Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams has paid tribute to manager Sam Allardyce for keeping the club up.

Williams said: "Firstly I have to say the collective response to being in quite serious trouble earlier this season has been absolutely magnificent.

"From the players, to the staff, to the fans - who have been superb in recent months- and of course the management.

"But you have to pay special praise to Sam Allardyce don't you? He was the man ultimately charged with the responsibility and he has succeeded in keeping us up, and comfortably in the end.

"We all know the position we were in when Sam took over. It hasn't been easy along the way either. We have had an incredible amount of injuries to cope with, but we have got through it and have to look forward."
