Blackburn Rovers captain Ryan Nelsen has welcomed competition from Phil Jones.
Nelsen is happy in the knowledge he cannot even take his own place for granted this term given Jones' emergence and the return to fitness of Christopher Samba.
But that just brings a smile to Nelsen's face.
Ever the pragmatist, he just wants what is best for the club.
"Competition is part of life," he said.
"I am not getting any younger and we have some incredibly good players.
"You get to a certain age where it is not about you any more, it is about the club you play for.
"I love to see good young kids progressing. If I have to sit in the reserves for the rest of the season and Blackburn win, I will be happy."
