Blackburn boss Allardyce raps Givet after Stoke defeat

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce singled out Gael Givet for criticism after their defeat to Stoke City.

Blackburn were taken to the cleaners by Stoke.

And they could have been on the end of a humiliation if it was not for an outstanding performance from their former England keeper Paul Robinson.

Unhappy Ewood Park boss Big Sam admitted: "The players weren't as good as they should have been - by far. I'm very disappointed in our overall performance.

"We didn't defend properly and we didn't stop Stoke doing what they wanted to do. The first one we didn't mark the men correctly, we had worked for two days on this and we didn't do our job.

"Danny Higginbotham was free on the back post and of course you have to give him great credit for the finish. But we should have had someone near him.

"For the second goal it was poor defending on the far post by Gael Givet, who should have easily seen that one out.

"And it was an uphill battle for us from there."
