Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is planning two major signings in January.

The Lancashire Telegraph says Allardyce is scouring Europe for a top-quality striker AND midfielder in January.

The Blackburn Rovers manager will almost certainly sign a new striker in the transfer window if wantaway Benni McCarthy and Franco Di Santo leave Ewood Park.

The Rovers boss also believes his midfield is lacking sufficient pace and creativity to supplement the defensive core of Steven Nzonzi, Keith Andrews and Vince Grella.
