Alex Jones will not be moving to Wellington Phoenix on loan.
The 21-year-old striker was set to spend the remainder of the A-League season on loan from Birmingham City but a administration blooper had denied the temporary move.
New Zealand Football confirmed last week that Jones' shift to the Phoenix was yet to be cleared by FIFA as the online process was not completed in time for the former West Bromwich Albion youth to be registered before the A-League transfer window closed.
The Nix applied to NZF to have the Jones loan overturned in their favour but the association's Head of National Competitions Daniel Farrow has revealed that the association has denied the Wellington club.
"While FIFA acknowledged the individual circumstances at NZF which led to the delay of Alex's transfer, they have ruled to protect the integrity of their global deadlines for the transfer of players," said Farrow.
"Given the unfortunate circumstances, we are obviously disappointed at the outcome for both Alex and the Wellington Phoenix."
