Birmingham winger Tahith Chong reveals regular Man Utd talks about future

Birmingham City winger Tahith Chong says he's in talks with parent club Manchester United about his future.

The 22-year-old has established himself as a fans' favourite since securing a temporary switch to St Andrew's. His stint in the second city has not been without difficulties, having recently returned from a groin injury that kept him sidelined for roughly four months.

On his return to the starting XI Chong made an instant impact, scoring with his first chance of the game in last weekend's 2-1 victory over Bristol City. Chong has praised United for their support since he moved to Birmingham, while also revealing he's held talks with the club over his future at Old Trafford.

He told PA: "I think that's brilliant from their part as well. We've been in constant communication.

"I think we both agreed from both parties to just focus on the season. When I was back in United seeing them as well and speaking to them obviously, they just want to see me finish the season here and do well and just stay fit. And, you know, just see what happens really in the summer kind of thing."

He admitted he's enjoyed playing under Birmingham boss Lee Bowyer this season and explained how the move has differed to his spells at Club Brugge and Werder Bremen.

"They've [Birmingham] helped me in ways I can't even describe," he added.

"The trust and confidence they've shown to me in every way, really, from me coming in. As a young player, sometimes that's all you need, all you want, to have that confidence because then you can just go out there and play your game, really.

"Even when I came back from injury and even during the time of the injury, staying in contact with them and trying to watch as many games as I can. What they've done is really amazing and the trust they've shown, I can't thank them enough."
