Birmingham City boss Gianfranco Zola admits interest in West Brom midfielder Craig Gardner.

Zola hopes Albion would be willing to let him go to add experience to Birmingham's promotion push.

"We are trying, Craig is one player we have a big interest in," he said. "We are at a good point and trying to sort the last details and hopefully it can go through. I cannot say how it will be but I believe the player wants to come.

"He is genuinely a Birmingham supporter and he likes the club. He's been here before and the people like him, it can be good for both parties."
