Birmingham boss wants improvements to training ground

Alex McLeish insists improving Birmingham Citys' Wast Hills training facility remains one of his top priorities, reports the Birmingham Mail. While the Blues boss looks to thrash out a new deal, he will ask for several assurances before putting pen to paper.

While there have been several improvements around the complex since Carson Yeung took charge, McLeish insists the facility is still not good enough for a club aspiring to become an established Premier League outfit.

"The training facilities in general need improving," said McLeish.

"It's very cramped down there, everybody is on top of each other and we don't have a lot of office space.

"There's other things we can do, like with the gym. It's a small gym that we have and we can't get all the players in the same gym.

"There's a few things but they will take time, step by step.

"Peter Pannu (vice-chairman executive and finance) is my first line to Carson and, because he's the man who will be writing the cheques, he knows exactly what I'm looking for."
