Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is desperate to win the battle for AZ Alkmaar striker Moussa Dembele.
Brum are battling West Bromwich Albion for the Belgium international.
"It is difficult when someone has got options and he's a top class player," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail. "The player himself maybe knows as well. Some perhaps have a little self-doubt, but the very top players don't have that.
"To bring in those kind of guys, to attract those kind of players to Birmingham, obviously there's a lot of money involved and at times big wage demands.
"But that's the ambitions I have and I would like to try and attract quality to this football team, enhance the quality factor in the team we already have.
"Dembele, he's quality. He's got a touch on the ball - but I'm advertising him for everybody else speaking about him.
"I'd rather that it was kept quite and Moussa didn't say anything. But I can understand that he's maybe trying to attract a bigger club.
"We will see what happens. We will try our best on that one."
