Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish expects to sign his new deal in the next 48 hours.

McLeish expects to confirm his own new deal before Saturday's trip to West Brom, where the St Andrews outfit will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the new season, although they have won just one of four games.

McLeish said: "We are ready to make an announcement before the weekend. The club is still moving forward and, hopefully, we can do great things together.

"At the end of the season every player bar none thought 'let's get big wage rises'.

"But it was our first season back in the Premier League and for me the secret is to do it again.

"A few of the younger players know we will do something with them if they reproduce last season's form."
