Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has highlighted the form of Lee Bowyer this season.

The experienced campaigner, who is Blues' top scorer with three goals, has brought a high quality all-round standard to the team that has to be admired.

"A player that has been outstanding for me is Lee Bowyer," said the Blues boss to the Birmingham Mail. "I've been absolutely delighted with him.

"His energy has always been there for everybody to see but what he has done well for us is play a real midfield dynamic role.

"He's got a fantastic engine and that's very evident in the figures we get from the sports science team.

"He's kept the ball for us, he's tracked back and he's obviously picking and watching for the right time to make his runs forward."
