Birmingham boss McLeish begins expanding backroom team with new fitness expert

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has begun expanding his backroom staff.

The Birmingham Mail says Blues have appointed Nick Davies head of sports science/fitness coach as part of a determined effort to improve the behind-the-scenes set-up at Wast Hills.

Davies, 32, a former Plymouth Argyle footballer, made his name in the role at Charlton Athletic under Alan Curbishley.

He was headhunted by Blues' chief medical officer, Dr Ian McGuinness, who is overseeing a significant revamp of the medical and fitness department at the club.
