Birmingham boss McLeish admits unusual to have a board member at training

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish admits it is unusual to have a board member stationed at the club's training ground.

New owner Carson Yeung has placed vice-president Sammy Yu, a former coach of Hong Kong, at the Blues' training headquarters to help oversee things but McLeish said he has not been a distraction.

"It's unusual for me to have a board member at the training ground," McLeish said.

"He's football director and he's liaison between myself and Carson. That's fine - I'm comfortable with that.

"We get on well and have discussed some names of players.

"But I have to also see if I have first-choice then I will point Sammy in that direction."
