Birmingham boss Eck ponders Thomson replacement

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is weighing up whether to replace Malky Thomson.

Thomson has left his role as Birmingham reserves coach to join David O'Leary's backroom team at Al Ahli in Dubai.

Educational and Welfare Officer Richard Beale has taken on the reserve team duties and will continue to do so for the time being.

"I'm keeping my powder dry at the moment," McLeish told bcfc.com. "I don't need to make any quick decisions. Richard Beale is going to take over things just now.

"He's a good lad and we'll suck it and see. There's no reason why Richard can't take over that role but there are certainly no shortage of applicants."
