Birmingham boss Eck happy with Far East tour plans

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is happy with the prospect of a tour of the Far East in the summer.

A tour of Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland was always expected following the club's takeover by Chinese business tycoon Carson Yeung last October.

"Sammy Yu is helping us to organise that and Sammy knows of our requirements and he's totally supportive of that," McLeish told bcfc.com.

"We'll have some PR work to do over there but we will make sure that the players are not overtaxed and we look at the travelling and tiredness of the players because there's no use flogging a dead horse before the season starts.

"We were always going to go to Hong Kong and China.

"We knew that and accepted it and anything that can help the club and the brand name and get further investment then I would support it.

"When I was at Rangers, Hibs, Motherwell, the (Scotland) national team, whatever I could do to help them commercially I would because ultimately I knew it would benefit us."
