Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed his interest in Watford striker Troy Deeney.

The Hornets have confirmed they are discussing with Deeney about the next move in his career as he enters the final year of his contract.

Asked about the Deeney rumours, Bowyer told BirminghamLive: "All I would say is Troy is a good player, he is a good striker, scores goals, works hard for his team.

"I know him, I have met him a couple of times, he seems like a winner.

"Will there be others that are trying to sign Troy Deeney? Probably, if they are not they are silly. He's a good striker.

"He's a player but we are speaking to other players as well so I won't go into too much detail. He is a player that I like and I am guessing there will be others that like him as well."
