Birmingham City face an uphill battle to convince Juan Roman Riquelme about a move to St Andrews.
The Daily Mail says Brum have expressed interest in Argentine midfielder Riquelme.
He has so far rejected offers from West Ham, Boca Juniors and Flamengo.
But the 32-year-old is understood to prefer staying in South America.
