Slaven Bilic decided against bringing in Emmanuel Adebayor from Tottenham.
West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has revealed that the Hammers boss had held talks with the Togolese striker prior to deadline day before opting against a move for the 'very expensive player'.
In the end, West Ham signed Nikita Jelavic from Hull City for £3million to add depth to their attacking stocks.
"I think it was more an enquiry and again, Slaven showed interest - we showed a bit of interest - and then it sort of all went quiet and Slaven obviously decided against it," Gold told talkSPORT.
"Very expensive player and I think he just weighed it up and felt with Andy [Carroll] coming back, with [Enner] Valencia coming back, with [Mauro] Zarate coming back and, of course, he was confident we would bring in the player from Hull [Jelavic]."
