Bilic: Friends ask why I took West Brom job

Former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is happy to have taken the West Brom job.

Bilic has revealed friends questioned why he was joining West Brom but he told them managing in the Championship was a bucket list item.

"It was always on my bucket list," Bilic said. "I wanted to tick it before I retired. It is a big responsibility but I can't wait to start.

"People ask me, 'Why you come to West Brom?' Well, it is the league I like. I have to be honest and say I didn't have top European clubs interested in me. But was this my only opportunity? No. Hopefully it will be a good match.

"Unfinished business? I don't see it this way. It's not a trendy club, it's not a five year-old-club, it's a very traditional club, very family. They are very demanding, very loyal.

"We're gonna try to come back to the Premier League this year. We are going to do everything that is within our budget to make the team ready to play for the promotion. That is our goal. We are going to give everything."
