Bike rack accident has Reo-Coker in doubt for Vancouver Whitecaps

Nigel Reo-Coker is in danger of missing Vancouver Whitecap's MLS meeting with Houston Dynamo this weekend.

The English midfielder is expected to be sidelined for the BC Place fixture after tripping over a bike rack in Vancouver last Sunday and sustaining a concussion.

The former West Ham United and Aston Villa man missed training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday and is likely to be absent for the visit of the Dynamo on Saturday.

"He's a little bit bruised and cut," said Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson. "He's not here with us today but we hope he makes a speedy recovery and hopefully (is) back very soon.

Of the bizarreness of the injury, Robinson said it was right up there with the weirder ones he had heard of.

"I've seen a few and heard a few in my time, picking up a remote control and pulling your hamstring and things like that. It's one of them that fits into that category," added Robinson.

"It's quite a serious injury for him but it's one that makes you chuckle when you hear about it and the story. It's a strange one.

"He just fell and tripped. I don't think he was looking where he was going, which is never a good sign for a midfield player. Obviously you've got to be very careful with head injuries these days."
