Besiktas have poured cold water on the prospect of landing Manchester City star Robinho.
City are attempting to establish whether Besiktas are in a position to finance their £16m bid for Robinho after the Turkish club posted a statement on their website to say they were struggling to raise the full amount.
"Until we have a sponsor, Robinho is out of the question," the statement said.
There were suggestions in Turkey that it was merely a strategic move on the part of Besiktas and that, in reality, the money is there.
