Besiktas are offering £4 million for Aston Villa striker John Carew.
The News of the World says Carew is out of contract at the end of the season and the Turks hope to persuade Villa to sell before he walks out on a free transfer.
The Norwegian was a big hit with Besiktas fans when he scored 14 goals in 28 games for the Eagles back in 2004.
He only stayed one year in Turkey but Besiktas boss Bernd Schuster is keen to bring him back for a second stint.
The Eagles have already signed Real Madrid star Guti and Inter Milan winger Ricardo Quaresma this summer.
