Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius faces being cut loose by Besiktas.

Karius, in the second of a two season loan with the Turks, is desperate to extend his stay in Istanbul.

However, Yeni Asir reports Besiktas are in advanced talks to sign Benfica goalkeeper Bruno Varela, who would arrive as a direct replacement for Karius. Varela is this season on-loan with Ajax.

Karius will be released back to Liverpool, though he has been told he has little future on Merseyside.

The German has been linked with West Ham and Hertha Berlin.
