Brighton defender Bernardo has admitted he is surprised at the tight nature of the Premier League table.

With Brighton still in 13th place after they got a 2-2 draw with West Ham United, they missed out on a chance to get into the top 10.

Now they have 10 days before the next league fixture. And Bernardo believes they can climb higher in the table.

Bernardo told The Argus: "I think we could push higher.

"Today's match we could have won and we would have been tenth.

"At the end of the season, two points that we lost today will make a difference.

"Or another match you could win but you drew or one you could have drawn but you won.

"It's very tight here in England. There will be matches we are not supposed to win and we win, as has already happened.

"I have a feeling we could be a bit higher but the difference between the teams is so small.

"Tenth and 13th is almost the same."
