Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva insists Thomas Lemar can prove himself at Atletico Madrid.
Bernardo's former Monaco teammate is being linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of the summer market.
But Bernardo told AS: "He's a great footballer. It was a pleasure playing with Lemar because he is a technically very good player and he also works a lot. Having good, working players is great for a team.
"Also, he's a very good boy. When he signed for Atlético I was very happy for him because it is a great team. Sooner or later he is going to get to the level he has because he is very good."
The midfielder also paid tribute to departing City teammate David Silva.
"David is an example. He is our captain. When I played with Monaco against City I changed my shirt with him and now we are teammates. For me it is a pleasure to be able to play with David.
"He is one of the best midfielders in recent years and has won almost everything. The World Cup and two Euro Cups with Spain, with City he has won everything except the Champions."
