Beppe Iachini was emotional after Fiorentina's defeat to Napoli.
Iachini confirmed going into the game he would be leaving at the end of the season.
“We played a good match defensively, against a team that creates many goal-scoring opportunities. We didn't do so well when we had the ball," Iachini told DAZN.
“It was our third game in a week and we were a little tired. It's a pity because it was a levelled match. An incident changed it, we could have done better, but we had the right commitment," the coach continued.
“The penalty kick changed the game, it's a decision we accept, but it's a pity because we did well defensively.
“We should have done better when we had the ball possession, we lacked something when we were building from the back. With a little more concentration, the game could have remained levelled for a little longer, forcing Napoli to attack more and leave more spaces."
The team said goodbye to Iachini after yesterday's training session.
“Yesterday, after the video session, the President arrived with the staff and the team gifted me a Fiorentina shirt where they wrote 'Thanks Beppe,' and they applauded me," Iachini said holding back the tears.
“It highlights that there were fears, but we managed to gain survival with three games to spare. We have improved something this season, and we managed to reach our target, I am happy for that. I will never forget that applause," he continued.
