Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has sung the praises of Chelsea centre-forward Olivier Girioud.

While drawing a comparison between himself and Giroud regarding an F1 race car and a go-kart drew the most focus on the weekend, in the same interview Benzema was full of praise for the Chelsea veteran and his role with France.

He stated: "If we talk about style of play, his suits the French team well. It is good because there are players like (Kylian) Mbappé or (Antoine) Griezmann who are fast and who evolve in the corridors or turn around the center-forward.

"He, in front, he weighs on the defences, which allows the other two to move a lot and show themselves. He blocks and it works. After that, it will not be spectacular, you will not say 'Wow dinguerie et tout' ... Does everyone like this game? I do not know. But things are going well for the French team."
