Liverpool striker Christian Benteke scored a stunning volley on his club debut as the Reds defeated Swindon Town 2-1 in a friendly on Sunday.

The Merseysiders took 48 minutes to open the scoring but it was worth the wait as Benteke, who joined from Aston Villa recently, chested down a flick from Joao Teixeira before firing a 20-yard volley into the top corner.

Swindon equalized soon after the hour-mark when Jonathan Obika found the corner of the net.

Benteke made way for youngster Sheyi Ojo at the end, which proved to be a decisive move as three minutes from time the teenager netted a late winner.

Another summer acquisition, Roberto Firmino, also made his Liverpool debut at the County Ground.
