Benteke a starting chance for Aston Villa's Everton clash

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert suggests that Christian Benteke could be given a start this weekend.

The Belgian striker returned to Premier League action in the October 4 loss to Manchester City after rupturing his Achilles tendon back in April.

Benteke, who made a 30-minute cameo in the 2-0 defeat, has been working well in training over the past few weeks and is now a chance to start at Everton on Saturday according to Lambert.

"Christian is pushing to start," Lambert said ahead of the Goodison Park fixture.

"I said at the time that the international break would come at a good time for him, because that gave him another couple of weeks to train with the team, and we had a (behind-closed-doors) game here against Leicester that he scored in so that gave him a lift as well."

Lambert's Villa are in desperate need of Benteke's goalscoring exploits as they have netted just four goals in seven Premier League matches so far this season.
