Bent warns Sunderland could be sucked into relegation drama

Darren Bent admits Sunderland risk being sucked into the relegation battle.

The England striker has appealed for Wearside fans to "keep the faith"" and conceded that Steve Bruce's men have to cut out the mistakes and defend better as a team.

He said: "We have to address certain issues on the pitch. We are far too open at the moment and not defending well as a team. If we want to push on up the league we have to defend well as a team. It is not just defenders, it is midfielders and attackers communicating together.

"It is crunch time. We have to eradicate mistakes. We have to roll our sleeves up ,dig in and push on. We have Kieran Richardson out, Anton Ferdinand out. Andy Reid is out and Jordan Henderson, who has been one of our best players, is also out.

"It is hard. We have to dig in and grind out results. We have enough players to get something from the next game.

"Everyone has to stay positive and keep the faith."
