Marcus Bent has pleaded with Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish for a chance.
Bent has been on the outer this season and linked with a move away, but insists he is suited down to the ground to McLeish's new 4-5-1 formation.
"When I was at Everton we played one up front and we got into fourth place. I scored a number of goals and created a lot of chances so it's a role that I know and one that I can work hard in. It's not foreign to me," said Bent.
"But that is down to the hierarchy of the manager and the coaches. We will see how it goes.
"If I do get to play it then I'd be excited to do it."
