Bennett penned Aston Villa extension before Bournemouth loan

Joe Bennett signed a one-year contract extension with Aston Villa before he was sent out on loan to Bournemouth.

The 25-year-old left-back has lengthened his stay at Villa Park but will spend the next four months on the south coast with the Cherries.

Bennett says he is eager to impress at the Vitality Stadium and is looking to find some form under Eddie Howe before heading back to push for selection in Tim Sherwood's first team in the New Year.

"I'm really pleased to have signed the new contract," he told Villa's official website.

"The manager and all the staff have been really encouraging.

"They believe the loan deal, and hopefully the opportunity to play regularly in the Premier League, will enhance my development and I feel the same.

"I'm really excited about the prospect of playing for Bournemouth and hopefully helping them perform well this season in the Premier League.

"They've already made a positive start to the new season and, like everyone else, I've been really impressed with the fantastic job Eddie Howe has performed. They have a really good side.

"The move happened really quickly. I trained this morning and then things started to develop.

"It's a good opportunity for me to add to the Premier League experience I've already amassed from my time at Aston Villa."
