Atletico Madrid great Kiko can understand Zinedine Zidane's controversial open letter after his resignation from Real Madrid.
In the aftermath of his resignation, Zidane posted a lengthy open letter to social media explaining his reasons for his departure.
During the letter, Zidane accused Real management of forgetting his past achievements and also failing to show the necessary confidence in him last season.
For Kiko, Zidane's reaction was understandable given what he had experienced during the season. The Atletico legend pointing out how Zidane took charge at the end of a season that had seen two sackings.
Quoted by AS, Kiko said on Cadena SER, "I was surprised by what Zinedine Zidane has swallowed. He appeared at a delicate moment and is within his right to feel supported.
"A little affection has been missing."
Meanwhile, former Real Madrid player Alvaro Benito also had his say, insisting Zidane deserved greater respect for what he had done for the club both as a player and a cooach.
He said: "It happens one hundred percent of the time except with certain coaches who have authority. Zidane, among them. Being a legend of the club as a player has a plus. I don't think they have those intrusions, those messages to their water line.
"Klopp, Guardiola, Simeone ... If they saw something like that they would make the same decision. The rest of us mortals are something else and you have to accept the rules as they are."
Now a pundit, Benito spent eight years on Real Madrid's books as a senior player and also coached within their academy from 2015-2019.
