Rafa Benitez is leaving Newcastle United frustrated over a job incomplete.

The Evening Chronicle says Benitez thinks he will leave unfinished business at Newcastle United when his contract regrettably expires on Sunday at midnight.

It's understood that while he has come to the conclusion he can not work for Mike Ashley's United, he could be open to a return under new management down the line.

Having enjoyed many aspects of his time on Tyneside, Benitez could opt to release a statement through the League Managers Association on Monday to thank supporters and staff for their support during his three years.

But his relationship with the club's power brokers has broken down so all eyes will be on what he says about that in the future.
