Benfica signing Nicolas Otamendi has said his farewell to Manchester City and their fans.

Otamendi signed for Benfica yesterday in a part-exchange for Ruben Dias.

Argentina international Otamendi said, "It was a wonderful five years, not only in terms of football.

"Everyone in the club treated me in the best possible way, from the management to the person in charge of the forms. Here I became the champion of England twice, won the League Cup, the Cup and the FA Super Cup. If you win these tournaments, then you did a great job. I am happy that I had the opportunity to enjoy such moments, I am grateful to the team for this.

"I was lucky to win the trophy in the first year, and then Josep Guardiola came and together we won even more. I am glad that I took part in the victories. I want to thank the fans, they also treated me great from the moment I arrived, I was constantly approached by people in the supermarkets or in the parking lot, and they always said nice things to me.

"I hope they are happy. I gave the club everything I could, I hope that Manchester City will continue to achieve success."
