Benfica are lining up a move for Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
O Jogo says Benfica see the France U21 captain as an ideal midfield addition for next season, earmarking him for a No8 role.
Indeed, Benfica management are discussing a new-look midfield, which would see Steven Nzonzi arrive from Roma in a defensive role, with Guendouzi to be played further forward as a No8.
Arsenal are prepared to sell and currently want €20m to part with the 22 year-old.
Benfica rate Guendouzi closer to €10m, though are willing to go higher with club chiefs convinced by the talent and potential of the youngster.
Olympique Marseille are also in talks to sign Guendouzi and had a €10m offer rejected by Arsenal earlier this month. Guendouzi spent last season on-loan in Germany with Hertha Berlin.
With Hertha, Guendouzi had a mixed campaign, winning praise for his performances at times, though also criticism for some ill-discipline.
The midfielder managed 24 appearances with Hertha this past term, scoring twice and producing three assists. He has a deal with the Gunners to 2022.
