Benfica defender Ruben Dias is on the brink of joining Manchester City.

Dias appears set to join Manchester City after an emotional farewell to the Lisbon club on Saturday.

Dias captained Benfica and scored the opening goal as the Eagles beat Moreirense 2-0, and he ended the match in tears as he appeared to confirm that this would be his farewell appearance.

After the game he said: “It was very important to score a goal. It is a special moment. I think people already understand why."

City are closing in on a £50million deal for the centre-back, which could be completed next week.
