Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo is being watched by Atletico Madrid.

Cadena SER says the Rojiblancos want to strengthen their left flank and the Benfica player is top of the target list.

Filipe Luis's contract ends at the end of the season and Atletico are searching for a replacement. Cholo Simeone is said to be taken by Grimaldo.

The 23-year-old, a former Barcelona youth player, has been playing well for Benfica and is wanted by various clubs. Benfica have resisted the sale so far and would want around €30m. An obstacle which stopped him going to Napoli last summer.
