Benevento president Vigorito talks Sturridge deal: An honour for any Italian team

Benevento president Oreste Vigorito has admitted interest in Daniel Sturridge.

The former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is coming to an end of a playing ban for breaking betting regulations and will soon be clear to sign for a new club.

A free agent after leaving Trabzonspor, Sturridge is being linked with Serie A new-boys Benevento.

“(Sporting director Pasquale) Foggia works all year around," Vigorito said. “Only when he is truly convinced that the negotiations can go through, he speaks to me immediately afterwards.

“Sturridge would be an honour for any Italian team, so I can't say I don't agree. I wouldn't be surprised if he opened talks to understand Sturridge's intentions."
