Augusti Benedito has called for Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu to resign.

Despite being top of the LaLiga Santander table, there is a belief that Barcelona is being run poorly and that there needs to be change in the club's leadership.

"We are facing a lack of leadership and credibility," former presidential candidate Benedito told RAC 1.

"Bartomeu wanted authorisation for something that was very important, such as eliminating the debt ceiling and the members told him they did not believe him.

"From that moment, he had minimal coherence and what he should do now is resign."

Benedito himself is relieved that Bartomeu's proposal to remove the debt ceiling was rejected.

"Thank God they were not authorised to remove it," he added.

"I am happy that a calm conclusion was reached and I am waiting for his presidency to end.

"It has been disastrous for Barcelona."
