Southampton are considering a shock swoop for Hatem Ben Arfa, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.

It seemed like the enigmatic Ben Arfa had managed to revive his career after enjoying a stunning season with Nice last year, where he scored 17 league goals and following such exploits, the 29-year-old earned a move to giants Paris-Saint Germain this summer.

Things have not quite gone according to plan for Ben Arfa at PSG though as he has failed to impress manager Unai Emery and now reports from England have claimed that the former Newcastle United winger already could be on his way out of the Parc des Princes.

The Saints are said to be currently eyeing the attacker who could reunite with Claude Puel whom he starred for at the Allianz Riviera last term.
