Lekhwiya head coach Djamal Belmadi is hoping he can lure Papiss Cisse to Qatar from Newcastle United.

The Senegalese striker is contracted with the Magpies until next summer but is looking for a way out after struggling for game time, mainly due to injuries last season.

According to the Daily Mail, former Manchester City, Southampton and Marseille midfielder Belmadi has spoken to Cisse about making the move to the Qatari Stars League where he would join former Premier League defender Chico Flores.

Cisse made just 14 starts in the league in 2015/16 as the Magpies suffered relegation snd could be on his way out amongst a host of other senior players as the Tyneside outfit prepares to drop to the Championship.
