BBC secures exclusive rights for Women's Euro 2021

UK public broadcaster the BBC has acquired exclusive rights to the 2021 edition of the Uefa Women's European Championship, which will be held in England, reports SportBusiness.

The BBC will provide extensive coverage of every match from the tournament across television, radio and online.

The broadcaster covered the recently-concluded Fifa Women's World Cup in France, with 11.7 million people having tuned in to watch England's semi-final defeat to the USA.

Barbara Slater, the director of BBC Sport, said: "At the start of this summer we wanted to shift the dial on women's football and I feel the phenomenal coverage from France has done just that."

The BBC's coverage of women's football during the upcoming season will include a live-streamed match from each round of the Women's Super League, the Women's Football Show, live Women's FA Cup action and coverage of major international fixtures.
