Bayern Munich star Lewandowski sends Scotland warning

Robert Lewandowski believes things will unravel for Scotland if they target him early on Thursday.

The Scots host Poland in Euro2016 qualifying at Hampden Park and Lewandowski believes any unsportsmanlike behaviour from the home defenders will get them in hot water with the referee, essentially benefiting his team.

In October last year, Scotland took it right up to the Poles in the 2-2 draw in Warsaw but the Bayern Munich star suggests a repeat of that demeanour will play into the hands of the visitors.

Responding to Scotland defender Grant Hanley's comments about making his presence felt against Lewandowski, the star striker said: "He'll get a fast yellow card if he introduces himself like that and then we will play directly towards him.

"I see the media speaking a lot about this battle on the pitch but I wouldn't be surprised if it was different and both the Scots and us focus on football."

And in reference to the block tackle from Gordon Greer that went unpenalised a year ago, Lewandowski added further: "I hope the situation on Thursday is not the same as in Warsaw because after that foul by Greer I couldn't run.

"I hope the referee will be more diligent this time. It's no secret I blame the referee for what happened in the last game.

"The ref was at fault for what happened in Warsaw. Let's just hope this situation won't happen again in Glasgow."

Scotland currently sits fourth on the Group D table and require a win over the second-placed Poles to be any chance of pushing for a play-off spot for next summer's Euros in France.
