Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic insists they treated former coach Julian Nagelsmann fairly.
Nagelsmann was fired on Friday and replaced by former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who admits he was speaking with Salihamidzic from Tuesday.
The director said, "We flew back on Sunday (after the loss against Bayer Leverkusen) and called a meeting with (CEO) Oliver Kahn and (Technical Director) Marco Neppe on Monday.
"We looked at everything, especially the second part of the season after January. We only won three games - we were lucky to win against Stuttgart and Wolfsburg.
"We negotiated with Thomas Tuchel's agent on Wednesday and Thursday. Unfortunately, we learned on Thursday night that it had already been leaked by a third person.
"Recruiting such a top coach in two days is not normal either. We behaved fairly (against Nagelsmann). As fair as it gets in this business. Of course it's bad that it comes out before then. But it's not our fault."
